THE CONTROVERSIAL LETTER TO JSMJC BATCH 1988

This is the letter i posted in facebook account of JSMJC Batch 1988 on October 30, 2011 in which i am a member and an officer. It caused me to resign from the group because of suspicion that i betrayed my fellow officers. Other link

  

          This letter may stimulate conversation but not to create contention. I may mention names but I hope it won’t be offensive and defamatory to you. It  doesn’t reflect the opinion of anybody or opinion of any batch88 officers. I must begin my story on when it started…three of our batchmates – Louie Achinges, Joel Lacampuenga and Peter Santos seriously thought of having grand reunion in 2008, then next thing was the first meeting held at Rommel Maurico house backed up by 4-faith led by Flor de Leon, Anna Dolores, Anabel Abejuro and others. And yes it did! As saying goes when it rains it pours.

        Supports for batch88 came pouring in led by Jay Gozum, Louie Achinges, Grace Andranos, Lanie Santiago, Vanessa de Leon, Peter Santos, Mar Alvarado, Julie Torres, Larry Valle. Pia San Juan, Richard Gappi, Wilma del Rosario, Anna Dolores, Rommel Mauricio, Anabel Abejuro, Andrea Mariano, Elmer Garcia, Eddie Fernandez, Jhelai Naval, Arman Alcantara, Joel Lacampuenga, Carmela de Leon, Rellie Mateo, Aldrin de Jesus, Rafael Manukay, Ariel Viray, Poly Domingo, Evans Pino, Judith Resurreccion, Jesus Aquino, Raquel Fortunado, Loreto de la Cruz, Marzan Magno and Marifi Lapuz.

         Because of their dedication, the result was a whooping 207,000 pesos in cash collection, 110,000 pesos were came from our batchmates own pockets, making us the biggest cash collected in the history of all JSMJC batch reunions. Thanks to our donors – Rally Rutaquio, Jinky Alberto, Marlon Balbuena, Raymond Gappi, Cathy Andres, Peter Santos, Cindy Rubio, Icasiano Geremillo, Lee carl Andaya, Peter Lubaton, Michael Eustaquio, Rachel Cruz, Olive Merced, Irene Anday, Jonathan, Wille and Daisy, Richard gappi, Julie Torres, Lydia gaye Santos, Marvin Reyes, Marilyn Copon, Elsa, Leonora, Paeng, Plana, Neil, Benilyn Andres, Olive Gonzaga and Almira.

         Then came Dec. 27, 2008 our reunion night, it was a night of happiness, friendship, memories, enthusiast and excitement. But when there is thrill of win, there is agony of defeat because not everybody are satisfied and prompted them to ask what happened? The word war begins when Galang Crisostomo bombarded our Friendster account  with barrage of comments and questions. Other guys follows like Raymond Gappi, John Lacanienta, Cathy Andres and moderator Joel Lacampuenga, Roda Mateo, Myra Dujali, Myla Juanson.

        To settle the issue Raymond arranged a meeting supposedly on sep. 26 but because of typhoon Ondoy it was reset on Oct. 3, 2009. Much of which happened was forgive and forget rather than clarification. Nevertheless, the consensus was to reconcile again by holding party Halloween as new sets of officers were formed (Peter Santos as chairman).  The party that was set on oct. 30, 2009 was not as successful as we all hoped because it bothered again by typhoon. 

          Then here came 2010, an attempt to reunite and revive batch88 was led by Aldrine Leonardo with Maricel Eustaquio, Cecille Arraullo, Andrea Mariano and Hazel Sanvictores.  Funded by Ipe Apolonio and Cathy Andres in  an instance, batch88 again was alive. Gracing that event was the ratification with all the new elected officers Raymond Gappi  as chariman, Aldrine Leonardo and Aldwin Aguinaldo as vice-chairman, Maricel Eustaquio as treasurer, Anna  as auditor, Myra Dujali as secretary, sworn to make the batch profitable for scholarship program.

     Succession of meetings were called but failed, facebook and text brigade were not effective. The suspicion was that batch 88 was falling apart.  As the other officers  were yielded , Julie Torres and Cathy Andres kept on pushing and asked me to make arrangement with SM and carry out bingo bonanza for fund raising. With the help of big ticket buyers like Rally Rutaquio, Cathy Andres, Galang Crisostomo, Almira Barbarin and the other batchmates. With the logistic help of Thirdkill Karunungan, the said bingo which was held on Dec. 19, 2010 pocketed 32,000 pesos less went to  Christmas Caroling and donation for Sister Rossette.

   In Jan. of 2011, batch 88 is somehow groomed of possible regrouping. This time with the expertise of Noli Mendoza and Evans Pino in management supervision plus the corporate planner Arnold Sambajon and me, and business minded Lanie Santiago and Wilma del Rosario, the group recognized the bounty of rules and regulations, enforced professionalism and determination in pursuing goals. Among their side were Elmer Garcia, Viv Velarde, Peter Santos, Mar Alvarado, Olive Lacanientat, Jhelai Naval, Carmen de Leon, Aldwin Aguinaldo, Myra Dujali, Julie Torres, Pia San Juan, Nila More, Judith Resurrecsion, Romeo Pajardo, Elmer Janier, Virgil de Guzman, Carmela Javier, Analyn Angeles, Julie Francisco, Roy Cagalingan, Poly Domingo, Vanessa de Leon, Rose Ano, Aldrin de Jesus, Israel Karunungan, Loreto/Marifi dela cruz.

       For their first project, they launched batch badminton tour on April 17, 2011 at Aerodrome, second the batch swimming on may 21 at Bukid sa Hardin Angono, followed by tree planting on Aug. 21 in JSMCJ compound and recently concluded bloodletting on Sep. 18 also in JSMJC. All of these events were done successfully and conducively. Here is the problem, while dedicated leaders are growing in numbers, the committed members are now reducing gradually. We asked some members why they don’t interfere and participate, and these are the regretting reasons why (1) they are intimidated by the present officers, (2) they have offense and guilt in batch 88, (3) restrain by their spouse, (4) hatred and jealousy on other members, (5) envy, (6) drawn by other members to keep away, (7) these batch is for successful people only, (8) organizers are arrogant, (9) partnership respectively, (10) they say batch 88 come and go. These compelling reasons might have been avoided if only each of us will think of the batch itself rather than personality. I’m not a counselor or adviser or preacher but I’m just leaving this letter to you whether you like it as you like other dumb quotes or do comments or get affected, so be it. How disappointing to know those members who do not care at all but it is more regretting to know those members who have already linked to the batch then suddenly disengaged.  I am now leaving it to you by leaving a little question to you: WILL YOU TELL US WHAT WE MUST DO?
